Overarching question: Where do we belong? Hinduism and Sikhism. In this unit students will investigate Hindu beliefs about God and the Trimurti. They will consider how behaviour affects karma and the cycle of Samsara. They will also investigate some of the key aspects of the Sikh community, by learning about the traditions of this community and then understanding the beliefs and values that lie behind these activities. They will gain a knowledge and understanding of the importance of shared beliefs and values in building a strong community. |

In this unit students will explore Hindu beliefs about God through studying Brahman and the Trimurti. Ideas linked to Karma, Moksha and Samsara and how behaviour affects rebirth. Students will examine the example of Guru Nanak and the origins of Sikhism, whilst exploring service to others and ideas of equality through the Langar. Students will also investigate Sikh practices through the birth of the Khalsa, the Guru Granth Sahib, and the 5 Ks. |
