- Year 6 Transition Day - Thursday 27th June 8.30am - 2.45pm
At Sir John Thursby Community College we aim to ensure that communication between parents / carers and the school is simple and effective. As a result, we have enlisted the services of Classcharts.
ClassCharts is a software package that communicates daily with parents and carers alerting them to their child’s timetable, homework, attendance, behaviour, detentions and achievements.
Additional information on term dates and letters will also be shared via ClassCharts.
As a parent / carer you will be provided with a unique code to allow you to set up your ClassCharts account on a computer, laptop or mobile or other device that supports iOS and Android apps.
Listed at the bottom of the page is a parent guide.
What equipment will I need?
When you join us at SJT, you will be doing lots of exciting lessons in different class rooms around the school. You will carry your bag and your equipment around with you during the day.
The things that you will need every day are:
2 pens- blue or black (so you always have a spare)
A pencil , ruler, rubber, pencil sharpener & a pencil case
You can of course bring extra stationery if you would like to. As you are moving to different classrooms, you will also need:
A School Bag. Your school bag should be big enough to fit an A4 folder in it and needs to be waterproof. Rucksacks are ideal, but it is up to you what style of bag you bring.
In order to organise yourself, each evening you should look at your timetable to see which lessons you have the following day and you should pack your bag so you are ready for the next school day.
Check that you have the following in your bag:
Your stationary- pens, pencil, ruler, rubber, pencil sharpener, all in your pencil case
Any books that you need for lessons that day (they will be provided by school)
Any homework that is due in
If you are having packed lunches, don’t forget to put your lunch in your bag in the morning!
Please click on the link at the bottom of the page to see details of our school uniform. Please note the tie colour for Year 7's will be yellow. (September 2024 intake).
Please click here to view SJT's extra curriculum activities which take place at lunchtime and after school.
Food and Drink
At Sir John Thursby, we have a wide variety of food and drink available every day with lots of favourite items on the menu. As a school, we operate a “cashless” system. This means that you have two options to arrange to pay for your food. Details on how the cashless system works and sample menus can be viewed here
