| Key Knowledge that students should know at the end of 'Topic' | This is the knowledge that students will meet for the first time in this topic | In this unit students will learn about: the difference between positive and negative friendships, and the difference between bullying and banter. Students will be able to identify bullying behaviour and know different ways to deal with it. Students will know what our government does and what a democracy is. | |
| This is knowledge that students may have met before but will need to deepen their understanding | There well maybe a great variety of prior knowledge due to content covered by feeder primary schools and what has been covered at home. This will discovered through class discussions, debates and other formative methods to ensure a base line of knowledge has been acquired and able to be retrieved | ||
| Key Skills that students should be able to demonstrate at the end of 'Topic' | This is the skills that students will meet for the first time in this topic | In order to prepare students for life they must be given the opportunity to develop skills and attributes such as resilience, self-esteem, risk-management, teamworking and critical thinking in the context of three core themes: health and wellbeing, relationships and living in the wider world (including economic wellbeing and aspects of careers education). Students will acquire the skills to identify the difference between healthy and unhealthy friendships and decide for themselves what a toxic relationship is. They will be able to discuss the consequences of unhealthy relationships. Students will know what type of country we live in with regard to democracy. They will also be aware of the role of our government. | |
