What will students learn | Students will fulfil the requirement of studying challenges for Britain, Europe and the wider world 1901 to the present day through the study of WW2 and the statutory requirement of studying the Holocaust. | ||
Key Knowledge that students should know at the end of 'Topic' | This is the knowledge that students will meet for the first time in this topic | Students will study some of the pivotal moments in WW2 including Dunkirk, the Battle of Britain and the Battle of Stalingrad. Students will learn the events of D-Day, students will spend some time understanding that VE Day didn't mean the end of WW2. Students will study the events of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Students will learn about anti-Semitism and its prevalence prior to the Nazis. Students will learn about the persecution of German Jews from 1933-1939, students will learn about the key features of the ghettos and concentration camps. Students will learn about the actions of ordinary Germans. | |
This is knowledge that students may have met before but will need to deepen their understanding | Students will retrieve knowledge on the beliefs of the Nazi Party and Hitler. The inter-war years and knowledge of warfare from WW1 | ||
