When is it happening		Term 1 Year 7
What will students learn		Students must learn parts of language and French phonics. They will learn to introduce themselves and create longer sentences about their life.
Key Knowledge that students should know at the end of 'Topic'	This is the knowledge that students will meet for the first time in this topic	The basics of French phonics, introducing themselves, numbers to 60, ages, dates, items in a school bag, colours, letters of the alphabet, brothers and sisters, physical descriptions, personal characteristics, pets.
	This is knowledge that students may have met before but will need to deepen their understanding	Students will have knowledge of basic grammar terms like nouns, verbs, adjectives.
Key Skills that students should be able to demonstrate at the end of 'Topic'	This is the skills that students will meet for the first time in this topic	Be able to pronounce words including e sounds. Create simple sentences in the present tense. Use a bilingual dictionary to find the meaning of new words. Use il y a to say what there is. Show an awareness of adjectival agreement.
	This is skills that students may have met before but will need to develop	Use knowledge of grammar to adapt and extend sentences.
Key vocabulary that students should know and understand		Vocabulary on personal information and greetings, numbers 0-100, dates, days of the week, items in a school bag, brothers and sisters, family members, pets, physical descriptions, personal characteristics.
