Curriculum Intent Statement
- We support the ethos of the school through teaching the Physical Education curriculum, to include motor cognition, strategies and tactics, and health and fitness.
- Promote an enjoyable, healthy, active lifestyle and the benefits of an active lifestyle into adulthood.
- Follow the National Curriculum Guidelines for PE at both KS3 and KS4.
- Offer the provision for Examination Physical Education for those students who wish to fulfil a career or have a passion for sport, health and fitness.
- Promote physical growth and development of all our students at SJT using LORIC.
- Promote ideals of safety, fair play and sportsperson-ship. Furthermore, enhance the reputation not only of the department but also the school through good sportsperson-ship participation, leadership and successes.
- Develop an understanding of inclusion and patience for children with different abilities within a practical context.
- Provide opportunity for structured practice beyond curriculum time to include community links.
- Develop leadership through teaching and learning in a physical education setting.
- Provide a world class curriculum delivered through the medium of physical education and school sport.
